Role

Are you an experienced Production Planner looking to contribute to a high-profile manufacturing programme?

Our Client has a requirement for a Production Planner, who will be required to work on an contract basis in Aldermaston and Burghfield.

Role Purpose

  • Support manufacturing and operational programmes through effective production planning and control.
  • Develop and maintain planning models to ensure production capacity meets customer demand.
  • Ensure manufacturing activities are accurately planned, scheduled, and released in line with programme requirements.
  • Drive planning excellence through the application of lean manufacturing and production control techniques.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) models to support production requirements.
  • Develop detailed manufacturing plans and methods in response to tasking requirements, considering time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within MRP systems.
  • Ensure customer requirements are planned, scheduled, and released to manufacturing and operational teams within agreed timescales.
  • Produce manufacturing cost estimates and challenge operational timings where appropriate to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control processes and procedures.
  • Apply Lean Planning techniques and Production Control methodologies across operational and manufacturing environments.
  • Utilise visual management tools, Kanban systems, and Push/Pull processes to support efficient workflow management.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to support production delivery.
  • Monitor production schedules and identify risks or constraints to programme delivery.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within planning and production functions.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Production Planner, Manufacturing Planner, Supply Chain Planner, or similar planning role.
  • Experience creating and maintaining capacity planning models.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing planning and production control processes.
  • Experience using SAP is essential.
  • Good understanding of ERP and MRP/MRP II systems.
  • Experience working within manufacturing, operational, production, or supply chain environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes and materials management principles.
  • Experience applying Lean Planning methodologies and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Working knowledge of visual management, Kanban, and Push/Pull production systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and workload management abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly regulated and process-driven environment.
  • Active DV Clearance is required.
